this is the plains that grow grass once it warms up, turning a brownish green color, this is where you can find an easy meal, but also where Polar Bears tend to come with their young, so be careful.

frozen plains Empty Re: frozen plains

Post by Nanook Tue Jan 26, 2016 8:52 pm

The outlandish Hunter lingered atypically midst the congregation's posterior when they encroached upon the placidity of the pewter frozen plains, whose dimensions were illuminated in sun-kissed pastel hues that glowed with unalloyed pulchritude, etched in lambent lavenders, corals, and the foreboding starry indigo of nighttime. The influence of spring's gradual approach brought forth dewy patches of sedge vegetation throughout the glacial expansion, but that didn't decline the gorge's present emptiness. Nanook's idiosyncratic poise, his absolute calmness averting his earlier dubiety, with his suave cranium elevated, ears alert, and mesmerizing malachite lamps flicking about the topography slowly, emanated a bizarre resolve of nonchalance.

His downy tail drifted lazily behind his hocks in the languorous breeze and his nostrils inhaling the low rudimentary registers into his olfactory, the zephyr tugging and swirling his sleek hackles ornately around his attenuate audits. Nothing was imminent peril, but he kept the very vague musk of polar bear noted to himself for it's lack of intensity made it evident the predator wasn't anywhere close to the pack. He decreased his energetic saunter to a casual amble and allowed himself to gain a comfortable distance from the others, conserving his energy for the extensive odyssey ahead of them and retiring himself to an isolated state of cognitive; he wished to collect and regard his thoughts in the steady quiet of the wolves, losing himself to the subarctic ambiance.

The tiny speck of a wolf followed a bit behind the pack, her ears flat and tail tucked in nervously. She constantly sniffed the air for any dangers, eyes darting around in anxiety.

Calypso smiled again at Clyde before looking back at Shadow Feather. "You look worried." She noted, a bit more to herself than the she wolf. "You shouldnt be, not while we're around." She gave the small she wolf a smile, this time a welcoming one.

Despite initially taking a position in the back of the pack, Karnak found himself more towards the center. The time had seemed to slip by as the steady sound of crunching snow and wind filled his mind, pushing out other thoughts. Lifting his slightly lowered head, the ashen colored wolf looked around at his surroundings, the openness of the plains started to make him uneasy.

Shadow Feather flashed Calypso a faint, grateful smile then flinched at the sudden movements of Clyde. Slightly shaking her head, she trotted behind Clyde, although not wanting to, she kept her position in the large pack.

Channing loped amongst the pack, trying to stay on the outside so he could check for danger every now and then. His tail swung steadily, brushing the occasional snow pile over. It was so open out here, and the temperature had seemed to grow a bit more warm. He yawned and trotted up closer to the front, eyes wide open.

She looked at Shadow Feather, unsure of what to say. "Come on, I don't bite, and I'm fairly sure the rest of the pack doesn't either." She chuckled quietly at herself, turning her head forwards a moment to look at the other pack members.

Post by Amberrose Wed Jan 27, 2016 1:54 am

The wind pulled at Amberrose as she loped through the plains. Since they were so open the wind was twice as strong making it significantly more difficult to travel. She eventually slowed down her pace, stopping herself on a snowy hill that overlooked most of the plains. Amber could see the traveling pack from afar since she was only about a half a mile ahead of it. All of the dark colored wolves stood out in the white, tan, and green mesh of the plains. There was still snow and the grass was still dead but specks of green sprouted out. This showed that spring was certainly arriving. The wind stopped for a couple minutes allowing Amber to sit down and soak in the beautiful realm through her optics. A slight smile of content rested on her countenance as she lifted her muzzle in the air. Unfortunately the content feeling soon vanished when she opened her eyes, spotting a fast moving, large, white speck galloping along the far left side of the plains. The large male polar bear was too far from the migrating pack to notice it immediately so a potential collision could be avoided. She didn't want to make any noise using a warning howl so instead Amber ran to catch Channing, who was on the left. They needed to change the pack's course, and swiftly.

Solar trots at the front of the pack, she took notice of Amberrose change of direction smelling the air and examining it she looked to amber and changed the course. She looked back making sure the pups stayed close by. "Now just a while longer and we will finally be home..."

The prince's recondite visual authority ensnared upon the Alpha Female and perceived her gather the orphaned puppies closer around her, his compact earlobes ascending to a brief apex and mercurial limbs commencing a brisk canter through the wayfaring individuals to position himself at the very anterior of the lupine throng. "You look quite busy.." He commented coolly with a mellow smirk and declined his massive skull toward an agouti pup who nearly tripped over her own paws, remedying her clumsiness by catching her upon his snout, handling the youngster with utmost fragility. Not missing a beat whatsoever, Nanook steadied her and guided her into the bunch of her siblings. "I apologize for my recent distant demeanor," he began slowly to avert misunderstanding and easily kept pace with the Alpha. Prompt but never hasty, he added smoothly again, "Things have been very odd lately."

Solar was slightly startled by the brute, having been lost in thought, she looked to Nanook, listening to his words, "It's fine..." she paused fr a moment listening to him, "how have things been odd? I didn't understand you sudden shift in mood." She said tilting her head. She was curious to now, she looked back to the pack for a moment making sure they stayed close along with the pups.

Nanook's feeble audits vitiated against his contoured temples when the Alpha Female's inquisition subtly knocked upon his peculiar secrecy and he took several moments to wholly register her inquiry to produce an appropriate riddle to prevent lacing together a sentence that could be potentially offensive to her. "It's a long story but trust me, it'll be gone soon enough." He reassured in low, deep frequencies that ebbed empathy for her curiosity to his detached disposition, however he remained outwardly vague to her and refused to clarify the specific whereabouts of his intentions. "Do not worry, lovely girl." He finished with characteristic charm and lessened his gait to a fluid trotting gait, his muscular haunches rolling effortlessly beneath his sleek earthy-toned hackles and substantial paws imprinting distinctive indentations in the icy seasonal composite still heartily blanketing a majority of the vast terrain.

Solar perked her ears at his refusal becoming a bit irritated, "I am Alpha. I'm supposed to worry and know whats going on." She said pushing her ears back in clear irritation. Shaking her pelt. "Why can't you tell the story we've got a long way to go I've got nothing but time on my paws right now." She said rotating her ears glancing at him. Examining the frozen terrain, seeing the tiny rodents scamper into their holes

"It's difficult to form into accurate words.." The Gamma explained in a low, purring growl that imploded with churning rumbles inside the cavity of his chest and pressurized his already reclined audits harder against his giant skull, although his aberrant aggressive actions he seldom utilized toward the highly-esteemed individual was moreso directed toward himself in exasperation—he was incredibly frustrated with himself for not being capable of communicating with his Alpha about the hidden endeavors. "I will warn you if anything breaches my control," he asserted in a severely dogmatic manner but maintained his tone around a respectful, but obstinate tenor to evade the ears any individuals willing enough to eavesdrop upon the conversation committed between the two dignitaries. "Everything is OK. Promise," Nanook mumbled in breathy conclusion and pried his elusive optics off the white maiden to monitor the evening horizon, admiring the vibrant sunset. He'd never break a promise.

Solar pressed her ears back at the growl although it wasn't particularly directed at her, it still had some effect. "Would you at least try... I'm trying to understand what is going on due to your sudden change of behavior... " she murmured getting a bit upset about the events that had taken place. She was unsure of his off behavior and was wondering what was going on. She could tell there was something he was hiding but couldn't quite pinpoint it.

The prince truly aspirated to satisfy the female's inclined curiosity with enlightenment of his obscure enterprise but, the muscle facilitating his mandible locked his carnivorous teeth together to prevent himself from vomiting an indistinguishable slew of words. "Perhaps, this isn't the appropriate time. I'd prefer to explain in privacy, for now." He uttered tactfully in regard to the puppies capering around their ankles and the others behind them, for neither parties needed to know of the information. Solar and Nanook, both, knew certain individuals would endanger themselves to become apart of the esoteric operation, to literally thrust themselves into the midst of the project solely to quench their thirst to be "in the know" and be involved in pack business when it wasn't their position to. He didn't need help, nor wanted to be worried about for there are more important scenarios to be concerned about dealing with the pack's annual migration.

Solar lifted her head at this, nodding, "fair enough... when we return to camp we can discuss it in private." She said softly, in a hushed tone.  Flicking her ears slightly, glancing down to the little ones, counting their heads. Returning her gaze ahead. She sighed, not too terribly long until we would be home. Sighing softly.

Clyde stayed behind just like Solar's orders incase anybody fell behind. His cranium remained higher than leveling with his shoulder blades remaining alert. His ears rotating quickly in different directions waiting for a threatening sound. His paws alternated keeping a steady pace. He looked over the pack seeing Solar and Nanook, he growled softly in his throat.

Beside the mesmerizing Alpha Female, Nanook guided the throng of voyagers upwind against the dreary squalls, his hackles rippling in the turbulence of the atmospheric currents and feeble audits shying backward from the low, hollow whistling produced by the profuse bursts of the frigid element. "Thank you," he gratefully expressed to Solar's alleviation of inquisition and threw his earlobes forth in astonishment when an abrupt pain shot up his spinal appendage, slowly drawing his large cranium around to peer curiously behind him.

Emeraldine optics instantly fixated onto the runt of the orphaned pups, whose milk teeth had been clamped into the fluff of his plush tail, his ears twitching in regard to her playful growls. He decided to gratify the pup's determination to accomplish the tug-o-war and pretended to be having trouble progressing, making his massive paws slide in mock struggle. Nanook grunted quietly and observed as the runt pulled harder, straining against her enfeebled muscles, and he plummeted upon the slush purposefully in the dramatic act of defeat.
